When I started my journey into the game of pickleball I was surprised by the lack of local information about the game. I was hard pressed to find a beginner’s instructional class and venues where I could go and play.
The two primary national organizations, USA Pickleball and US Senior Pickleball (USSP), do an excellent job providing national and sometimes regional information but lack local content, leaving a huge information disconnect.
As a recent retiree, clamoring for pickleball information, I joined both organizations to get a better grasp of the game and access to information. I migrated to US Senior Pickleball as my preference for obvious reasons and became a local ambassador for the sport.
My intent is to provide local and regional information to the senior community such as:
- Where to find free “Learn to Play Pickleball” clinics.
- What venues offer Medicare sign up packages.
- Local senior groups that schedule social play.
- Leagues.
- Other social pickleball events.
- A repository to post information about various events I host.
USSP found, in a recent member survey, that many seniors do not use Facebook or other social media to search for information. They rely on Google, Edge, Firefox, and Safari to search for content.
With a well-designed website, good content, structured Categories, subcategories and tags I hope to bridge the information gap.
